After the 2020 season, he played four more seasons with the KBO League SSG Landers and retired last year.
"I didn't try to make money in Korea. I wanted to tell others what I learned in the Major League," Choo told the Dallas Morning News. "Mental is that. People talk about the five tools, but I also think there is a sixth tool. That is the most important thing to me. There are many talented players. But it is nothing if you don't have a mental state."
Choo Shin-soo stressed, "Everyone has 24 hours. It's what you make. You can lie to me. You can lie to others. But you can't lie to yourself. You know how much time you spend on baseball. People say they are nervous, but why should they be nervous in games? You have to be confident."
As soon as he retired, SSG called Choo back as a special assistant in owner and player development. He didn't want to go back to baseball, but he realized once again that he was too passionate to leave it, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Currently, three SSG prospects are staying at Choo Shin-soo's home in Texas. Two more will join. Choo wanted them to stay at his home, not at a hotel. He thought it was important to be able to see what life was like off the field when chasing his dream of baseball, the media added.
